How much time would you give your child to learn how to walk?

– What are you crazy? However long s/he may need to master the skill and learn how to walk!

If a human doesn’t have any disability s/he will eventually walk, and I am yet to hear someone saying “if this child is not walking in __ amount of time I give up!” As a parent, we continue to cheer and motivate until our child walks. We encourage baby steps, employ different strategies, allow for baby to fall and get up all without losing sight of the successful goal ahead. We should take the exact same approach to business.

Business growth doesn’t happen by accident and embracing the learnings, employing new strategies will help you grow a bit faster. At a time where anxiety is high, and many are uncertain about the future, I just would like to share 4 things I wish someone had told me the first year I started my business.

1. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO MARKET/GROW MY BUSINESS ONLINE

I see this question quite a lot, especially nowadays. There are plenty of options: Facebook groups, Sales Funnels, Facebook Ads, Affiliate marketing etc. Some of these tools are great, but costs sum up quickly and unless you already make money to cover for it, don’t start with the tools! Start with building the connections and choose ONE method/tool to grow your audience (which will help you deepen that relationship and serve your people). This is especially true if you’re just starting. It may take a bit longer to grow a following. But it will make sure you keep some of the money in your pocket and profit is inspiring!

2. FOCUS

There’s a ton of free stuff and everyone is trying to give you value with their challenges, summits, affiliate opportunities, you name it. Stick to one course, one channel and one business. I’ve made the mistake to invest into many courses and I tried to be active on all platforms… I ended up overwhelmed, scammed and broke. I’ve seen many people give up for similar reasons… Believe me, you will be spinning your wheels if you make that mistake.

3. IF IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS…

Be extremely careful when you come across bold promises / making figures in ___ days. Starting a business and actually making money with it, takes work, I mean a lot of work. There are a ton of “gurus” out there telling you what you want to hear because they want you to buy their crap. I want to sell my crap as well, but I’m super honest: If you see someone making money while they sleep it means they worked a lot while they were awake (excluding scammers). You CAN make this online business work, if you stick and commit to it in the long run.

4. THE GRASS IS NEVER GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE

Today I love cheering and reading about other people’s wins, because it inspires me. But there was a time it didn’t feel this way. I know it’s easier said than done to do not feel intimidated by all these amazing, beautiful, successful people sharing their wins. However, you must only compare yourself with yourself. Realize nobody starts from the top. We will ALL suck and fail at first, but persistence and action trump perfection any day. Also, know EVERYONE (including those amazing influencers) have some level of imposter syndrome at some point. The key to move on is to keep imposter thoughts captive. Stop them as they come, by having kindness and compassion to yourself. You would never say to others what you sometimes think about yourself…  Back to #2 Focus. Keep focusing on serving your clients.

People out there need you just the way you are!
